My top 10 new and/or exciting science and biotech podcasts:
First big blog post coming next week – Thursday! Here is a little teaser until then.

Let me know if you agree or if you have others that you love. I’d love to check new ones out.

1) A Stem Cell Podcast:
A podcast dedicated to cures, therapies, and research related to stem cells. https://player.fm/series/the-stem-cell-podcast

2) Star Talk Radio:
A podcast of amazing science galore. If you have not checked this out, you need to stop what you’re doing and listen to Dr. Tyson speak on interesting subjects.

3) Radiolab:
Radiolab is a podcast and radio show that cleverly weaves together stories and science into sound and music-rich documentaries. It covers all kinds of interesting topics, guided by its central theme of scientific curiosity.

4) Learning with Lowell (this one is mine, so there is a bias here):
Learning with Lowell with your host Lowell (That’s me!) is first and foremost about learning. We will both learn about the different avenues for success in biotech, healthcare, and related science fields through conversations with startups, researchers, and policy makers. There are two main episode types: the first type is case studies which act like mini biographies communicated in fun discussions (background, training, advice, suggestions, etc) and the second type is symposium topics, including venture capital or eradicating rabies where we have multiple episodes dedicated to one topic to educate and illuminate us both.

5) Reply All by Gimlet Media:
It’s about internet stories that are about people. That’s pretty succinct, but it’s really great.

6) NPR Science Fridays:
The title pretty much sums it up nicely!

7) Origin Stories:
iTunes summary: Origin Stories is The Leakey Foundation’s podcast about how we became human. We’ll look into the deep past, explore the mysteries of the human mind, and hear stories from scientists who are asking fascinating questions about the origins and evolution of our species. We’ll have stories on human evolution, human behavior, primates, archaeology, biology, psychology, science history and more.

8) Living Planet:
iTunes summary: Every Thursday, a new episode of Living Planet brings you environment stories from around the world, digging deeper into topics that touch our lives every day. The prize-winning, weekly half-hour radio magazine and podcast is produced by Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster.

9) Ask the Naked Scientists!
iTunes summary: How many organs could you donate and remain alive? How many planet Earths could fit inside the sun? How high is a giraffe’s blood pressure? Why is the sea blue? To find out, Ask The Naked Scientists!

10) Science VS:
iTunes summary: There are a lot of fads, blogs, and strong opinions, but then there’s SCIENCE. Science Vs is the show from Gimlet Media that finds out what’s fact, what’s not, and what’s somewhere in between. We do the hard work of sifting through all the science so you don’t have to. This season we tackle immigration, climate change, true love and artificial sweeteners.

  1. Really fantastic list, I know many of those but not all of ’em, looking forward to checking those out. I can also humbly recommend you check out my own science podcast, “What The IF?” We explore science in a really fun way. Would love to know what you think if you do get a chance to listen: WhatTheIF.com
